On November 15, Guild Software announced the immediate availability of a new update for its cross-platform massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Vendetta Online 1.8 game for all supported operating systems.
According to the release notes, Vendetta Online 1.8.359 adds many new features, among which we can mention support for displaying IDs in the key lists, which are now sorted by Key ID, along with updates to the Livery system, allowing for more dynamic addition of new skins for ships, and modifications to user keys to default to can-dock access and IFF.
There are also a few F2P (Free To Play) specific changes, such as the increase of the Crystal limit for bot-kills to 20 crystal per day, the crystal rewards given by various Hive bots have also been increased to 2 crystal for Assault-class bots and up to 5 crystal for Hive Queens, and players can now pay only one crystal for ship weapons and add-ons that are at level 3 or higher.
“Beyond that, we intended this release to also debut the next-generation beta of our Oculus Rift support, but after some testing we chose to defer a little longer and make sure things are solid (probably until next week). We initially only expected the Rift to be disabled for a week or so, but Oculus also released their 0.8 SDK in the same timeframe, so we chose to update and optimize for that, in addition,” reads the announcement.
Next-generation Oculus Rift support coming soon
In addition to the new features mentioned above, Vendetta Online 1.8.359 also fixes an issue related to disappearing Hive Queens from the game universe. In the upcoming updates, the developers are planning to further improve the Free To Play game balance, adding new functionality for the level limits and other useful features. Moreover, Guild Software developers are working around the clock to improve support for Oculus Rift.
According to the developers, the current build of the Vendetta Online game needs a lot of under-the-hood improvements before they attempt to implement the next-generation Oculus Rift support for a more polished VR (Virtual Reality) experience. In the meantime, all existing players can update to Vendetta Online 1.8.359 today. The game is available for GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Android, and iOS operating systems.
