Guild Software announced the release of a new maintenance build for its popular Vendetta Online game, a cross-platform MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game).
Vendetta Online 1.8.361 is an important milestone as it finally updates the Oculus Rift “Beta Test” VR support to the 0.8 SDK (Software Development Kit), introduces an all-new “VR Welcome” panel, which presents players with a list of the known problems and their workarounds during startup, and adds a brand-new “VR Options” feature to the Options area, which is activated immediately after a VR headset is detected.
“Our Oculus Rift VR headset support has been updated! We were widely reported as the first MMO to launch support for the Rift, back in July of 2013, and we’re happy to now bring it up to the latest 0.8 SDK support, along with adding many new VR-specific features and improvements,” reads the announcement. “This is also concurrent with the launch of our recently-updated DirectX 11 rendering engine.”
More VR improvements land for Vendetta Online
Among other features implemented in Vendetta Online 1.8.361, we can mention a VR game startup environment that will be used for setting up the controller and the initial orientation of the VR headset, as well as better support for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Logitech F710 controllers on the Microsoft Windows operating system. Please note that the default anti-aliasing has been temporarily disabled for new installs where an AMD graphics card is present, but only in the 2D mode (non-VR).
All users are urged to upgrade to the Vendetta Online 1.8.361 release as soon as possible, which is a free update for existing customers. If you’re a new user and you want to try out Vendetta Online, you can grab a free 30-day trial from the project’s website. The game is currently available for Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, Android, and iOS operating systems.
